1. What are the three selective processes that we use to gather and intrepret information?  Please give examples.
(5pts)
Danielle's answers
Selective exposure- our eyes and minds seek out and notice only information that interests us. Selective perception-we screen out or modify ideas, messages, and information that conflict with previously learned attitudes and beliefs. Selective retention-we remember only what we want to remember. An example is Smith Tires advertising a sale in the newspaper weekly. Most of the time we don't even notice these ads. Only when we need new tires do we tune into Smith's ad.
